Bio

Andrew Bolton is a consultant for Appleby, having been Global Practice Group Head and a Cayman Islands partner in the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice until March 2019.

His experience is in the area of commercial litigation, including fraud, asset recovery and professional negligence. He provides litigation and insolvency advice on Cayman and BVI matters.

Andrew joined Appleby in 1997 and was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in the Cayman Islands. He became a Partner in 1999. In 2006, he was admitted as a Solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (British Virgin Islands Circuit).

He worked for Freshfields (now Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer) in London and Brussels from 1987 to 1997, including a year on secondment to the Bank of England.

Andrew speaks French.

Work Highlights

  • Acting for an international bank in connection with claims arising out of the collapse of a major Czech bank and a US$500 million mutual fund;
  • Acting for the majority shareholders of a company responsible for the largest foreign investment projects in Vietnam in connection with a dispute with the minority shareholders;
  • Acting for clients involved in various capacities (creditors, investors, service providers or office-holders) in relation to several of the recent distressed fund situations including Basis Yield Alpha Fund and Peloton.

Qualifications & Education

Andrew qualified as a Solicitor, England and Wales in 1989 (now non-practising).
