Michael Hanson is a partner within the Dispute Resolution department and leads the Employment and Immigration team in Bermuda. Michael leads a team of lawyers who have particular experience with both contentious and non-contentious employment and immigration issues.

Michael regularly gives presentations and seminars and is a frequent author of articles and other thought leadership pieces on employment and immigration law and its legal and commercial implications.

Michael predominantly acts for global banks, insurers, reinsurers, hedge funds and professional service organisations and has extensive experience in:

  • Senior executive appointments and terminations.
  • Restrictive covenants, executive walkouts and restraint of trade litigation.
  • Employment contracts, policies and procedures.
  • Reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions.
  • Management restructures and workplace information and consultation.
  • Protecting staff, customers, confidential information and know-how.
  • Immigration and human rights issues.
  • All employment tribunal claims including discrimination, unfair dismissal and whistle blowing claims.
  • Supreme Court breach of contract claims.
  • Industrial relations, trade union recognition and collective bargaining issues.
  • Human resource issues: disciplinary and grievance hearings, bullying, harassment, performance management and recruitment.
  • Ill health and absence management including managing disability issues.
