The two-year programme which provides pupils with training across the firm’s Corporate, Dispute Resolution and Insurance departments involves three 4-month seats in the first year and one 12-month seat in the second year. Pupils are assigned a senior attorney as a mentor as they rotate seats. After completing three seats in the first year, trainees are called to the Bermuda Bar.
As Skye, Mya and Akira start their first year of training, Associates Milaun Perott and Ryley Tannock have moved to their final year of the firm’s trainee programme.

Skye Burrows: Skye received the Appleby Legal Education Bursary in 2020. She completed both the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Master of Laws in Professional Legal Practice (LPC LLM) at The University of Law. Prior to that, Skye obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB (Honors)) from University of Buckingham.
“With Appleby having an outstanding reputation for exhibiting a culture of esteemed and innovative lawyers, I knew that choosing to undertake my pupillage with the firm was an astute one,” Skye commented. “I am unshakeable in my belief that I will gain invaluable knowledge from my mentors where I will grow and develop within the legal profession. Mya Gibbons: Mya has been a Paralegal with Appleby since 2023, and also interned with the firm’s corporate service provider, Appleby Global Services (AGS). She holds a postgraduate diploma in Professional Legal Practice and Master of Science in Law, Business and Management from The University of Law (LPC MSc), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Birmingham.
“I chose Appleby as the firm to undertake my legal training, not only because of its stellar reputation as a leading global offshore law firm but because of the talented and knowledgeable lawyers it produces,” Mya explained. “The experience and wisdom I have gained at Appleby are second to none and I look forward to developing them throughout my time in the trainee program. Akira McDonald: Akira, who interned with the firm from 2015 to 2018 and also worked as a Paralegal in 2016, holds an LPC and LLM from The University of Law, and an LLB from Middlesex University. Akira is joining the firm from the Bermuda Monetary Authority where she most recently worked as an Analyst.
“I have already had the pleasure of working for this esteemed law firm and always knew that this would be where I completed my pupillage. I am both blessed and grateful to be welcomed back with open arms to the firm that I started my legal journey with.”
