The Citywealth Future Leaders Awards highlight leaders under 40 in the wealth sector who excel at work and also make an important contribution to society.
Alex moved to Guernsey in 2021 having trained, qualified and practised at Stephenson Harwood in London since 2012. Alex has proven himself to be a key member of the Appleby dispute resolution team in Guernsey, contributing significantly to several noteworthy cases.
In the last year, Alex has been the leading associate on the following matters, amongst others:
- Acting for certain directors to defend claims in the region of USD 1 billion brought by the liquidators of a parent company based in Guernsey.
- Acting for a fiduciary services provider and individual directors in respect of enforcement proceedings brought by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, including on Appeal.
- Advising the largest creditor within a liquidation in respect of funding the liquidators to pursue a multi-million dollar claim.
- Advising a corporate services provider on a multi-jurisdictional employment related dispute, involving the obtaining of ex parte injunctive relief abroad.
Alongside his career as a lawyer, Alex has been deeply passionate about working on social-mobility related issues. Alex has been a driving force behind the establishment of a formal ‘CSR Committee’ at Appleby, and is personally driving a project to create a partnership with a local school in Guernsey to connect Year 9 students with the professional services community.
Alex was previously an Advisory Board member for the Aspiring Solicitors Foundation, and worked closely with Blueprint for All (formerly known as the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust).
