Appleby has been providing scholarships and bursaries since 1977 to qualified Bermudian applicants based on academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities. This year’s recipients are Ryley Tannock, Maya Dean, Thomas Evans and Jada Rogers-Ingemann.

LEGAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP:

The Legal Education Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for a Bermudian student studying law who plans to return to Bermuda to practice.

This year’s Legal Education Scholarship (valued at $30,000) is awarded to Ryley Tannock.

  • Ryley will be attending University of Law (Birmingham) in September, starting his LPC. Ryley attended Saltus Grammar School and then obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Psychology at Saint Mary’s University.

APPLEBY/BERKELEY INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP:

The Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for current graduating students of The Berkeley Institute.

This year’s Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship (valued at $20,000) is awarded to Maya Dean.

  • Maya will be pursuing a degree in Management (Business Administration) from North Carolina A&T State University.

In addition to our 2022 scholarship recipients, our 2021 scholarship recipients are also eligible to receive funds this year for their second year of study.

LEGAL EDUCATION BURSARIES:

Legal Education Bursaries are annual bursaries for Bermudian students studying at university who have the intention to return to Bermuda.

This year’s Education Bursaries (valued at $10,000 each) are awarded to Thomas Evans and Jada Rogers-Ingemann.

  • Thomas will be attending Lancaster University in September, pursuing his Bachelor of Laws with Politics;
  • Jada will be attending University of Kent in September, continuing her Bachelor of Laws with Honours.

Our scholarship and bursary recipients also have the opportunity to apply for summer and winter internships to gain valuable work experience. Legal Education Scholarship recipient Ryley will be a summer intern at Appleby in both the Private Client & Trusts and Dispute Resolution teams. Legal Education Bursary recipient Jada Rogers-Ingemann recently completed her summer internship within our Corporate team.
