Appleby has been providing scholarships and bursaries since 1977 to qualified Bermudian applicants based on academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities. This year’s recipients are Jasmin Brown, Keren Smith, Tiffany Cooper, Thomas Evans and Jada Rogers-Ingemann.
LEGAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP:
The Legal Education Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for a Bermudian student studying law who plans to return to Bermuda to practice.
This year’s Legal Education Scholarship (valued at $30,000) is awarded to Jasmin Brown.
- Jasmin is completing a Bachelor of Laws with Sociology at University of Kent.
APPLEBY/BERKELEY INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP:
The Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for current graduating students of The Berkeley Institute.
This year’s Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship (valued at $20,000) is awarded to Keren Smith.
- Keren will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Psychology from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
LEGAL EDUCATION BURSARIES:
Legal Education Bursaries are annual bursaries for Bermudian students studying at university who have the intention to return to Bermuda.
This year’s Education Bursaries (valued at $12,500 each) are awarded to Tiffany Cooper, Thomas Evans and Jada Rogers-Ingemann.
- Tiffany is completing a Bachelor of Laws at Cardiff University;
- Thomas is completing a Bachelor of Laws with Politics (Honours) at Lancaster University. Thomas was also a 2022 Bursary recipient;
- Jada is graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and commencing a Masters of Law (Honours) at University of Kent. Jada was also a 2021 and 2022 bursary recipient.
Our scholarship and bursary recipients also have the opportunity to apply for summer and winter internships to gain valuable work experience. Legal Education Scholarship recipient Jasmin Brown was a summer intern at Appleby in both the Corporate and Dispute Resolution teams. Legal Education Bursary recipient Thomas Evans will be a summer intern at Appleby within the Private Client & Trusts team this year and Jada Rogers-Ingemann was a summer intern in the Corporate team in 2022 and will be a summer intern at Appleby within the Corporate team this year.
