Isle of Man Athletics’ ambition is to maintain and increase athletics’ popularity by delivering an inclusive framework for athletes on the Island aged 7 and upwards. This year a new Isle of Man Track & Field League was established, bringing together five athletics clubs across the Island for six meetings from April to July, in preparation for this year’s NatWest Island Games which will take place in Gibraltar.

The ACF are supporting the league by supplying goodie bags (drawstring bag, t-shirt, water bottle and earphones) to all of the volunteers who work tirelessly during the various track events and training sessions.

Hannah Riley, Athletics Development Officer, comments: “It is great to have the support of local businesses that truly see the value in what our volunteers do and want to reward them for it. We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers, so it is brilliant that Appleby have come on board to thank them for their hard work”.

The ACF donates over £12,000 to charitable causes on the Isle of Man each year. In addition to dealing with external requests for funding, it is also used to support employees in raising funds for their chosen charities.

Caren Pegg, Dispute Resolution Partner at Appleby and ACF member, adds: “When we launched the Appleby Charitable Foundation this is exactly the type of cause we wanted to support. Getting people involved in sport is so important, not only for the body but also for the mind, and we are very proud to be able to reward the volunteers that donate so much of their time to help”.
