Mark Watson has joined the team as a newly qualified lawyer.  Prior to joining Appleby in September 2020, Mark qualified as a solicitor at a boutique firm in Scotland where he worked in the corporate and commercial property teams within their Edinburgh office.  Mark is a member of the Law Society of Scotland, and is also admitted as an Affiliate Writer to the Signet by the Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet.

Andrew Jowett has joined the team as a Group Partner in the Jersey office as a practicing BVI lawyer.  Andrew has extensive experience in corporate, banking and finance, and capital markets transactions, with particular emphasis on clients in the mining, oil and gas, energy and natural resources sectors. Andrew’s corporate practice involves advising a range of clients from large blue chip listed companies to small private companies on multi-jurisdictional mergers & acquisitions, public takeovers, IPOs, private placements, corporate re-organisations, joint venture arrangements, continuations, voluntary liquidations, shareholder rights, corporate governance, and directors’ duties.

Daniel Bradshaw has joined Appleby as a paralegal within the corporate department in Jersey.  He was educated at the BPP Law School, further to a degree at Newcastle University.  He is involved with the full range of corporate and finance transactions, including real estate finance and corporate acquisition finance, as well as listings on The International Stock Exchange.

Ben Bestgen has also joined the Corporate Team as an Associate.  Ben qualified as a solicitor and notary public with Brodie’s LLP in Scotland in 2016 and has spent time both in-house, on secondment and in private practice in Jersey and Australia.  Ben currently contributes to a series of weekly philosophical/jurisprudential articles published by Scottish Legal News and its sister publication Irish Legal News.

Further to these new appointments, Paul Worsnop and Daniel Healy from the Corporate Team have both recently been promoted to Senior Associate. Appleby are delighted to announce Paul Worsnop has on Thursday 12 November 2020 has passed his Jersey advocacy exams and is looking forward to being sworn in as a Jersey Advocate.
