Hosted by Global Restructuring Review (GRR), a leading source of worldwide news and analysis for restructuring and insolvency practitioners, the awards aim to recognise and celebrate the standout restructuring practices and individuals that have impressed the most over the past year. The offshore category was one of 19 awards handed out at the London ceremony.

Commenting on the success, Hong Kong and Mainland China Managing Partner David Bulley said: “We’re honoured to have been named the leading offshore law firm for restructuring work by such a well-established and respected publication. Our global Insolvency and Restructuring practice has had another standout year and continues to go from strength to strength, which is testament to the calibre of the legal teams and staff at Appleby. Securing this special accolade is also recognition of the high standard of service we provide to our clients within the restructuring space.

“From a Hong Kong and Shanghai perspective, we look forward to continuing to work with the many China real estate developers who are our clients and, together with leading onshore counsel, members of the Bar and our home jurisdiction offices, helping to resolve their offshore debt obligations and restructuring their capital stacks.”

In attendance to collect the award on behalf of Appleby were Partners David Bulley, Mark Holligon, David Lee, Ben McCosker, Sebastian Said, Sam Williams and Andrew Willins and future Appleby Partner Marcus Staff. Partners John Wasty and Anthony Williams were due to attend but were unfortunately unable to do so on the night.

In further recognition, Appleby was also named to the GRR 30 of leading cross-border restructuring and insolvency law firms. The GRR 30 is an annual list compiled of the top 30 standout firms in the GRR 100, the publication’s yearly guide that ranks restructuring and insolvency law firms worldwide.
