The DG’s 5K Challenge is a walk/run event which brings together civil servants, private sector employees and members of the public in a fitness and fundraising challenge. It was established as part of the Deputy Governor (DG), Hon. Franz Manderson’s vision to have a healthier, more active and socially engaged civil service, whilst benefitting charitable organisations and initiatives in the Cayman Islands.
Appleby has been involved with the event since 2015, being a gold sponsor in 2016 and sole platinum sponsor up until 2024. With the event now attracting more than 2000 participants, this year we are proud to be the event’s only diamond sponsor.
Norman Klein, Appleby’s Managing Partner said “We are delighted to receive the Corporate Cup in recognition of the number of staff and family members registered for this high-profile community event in 2024. The support we received from our staff made it a great event, bringing local companies and individuals together to raise money for our community. He added “Having just received the cup, I am hopeful we will improve on this number in 2025 and keep hold of it for a further year.”
The DG5K takes place in Grand Cayman on 30th March and has now raised over half a million dollars supporting many deserving causes. This year’s theme is ‘Empowering with Every Step’ and the DG has chosen three charities to benefit from the challenge:
- The Cayman Islands Girls Brigade,
- The Cayman Islands Scouts Association, and
- One2One (formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters)
