STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) is a global professional body comprised of lawyers, accountants, trustees and other practitioners who help families plan for their futures. STEP’s Annual Conference brings together 100+ delegates each year, featuring industry leading speakers discussing topics such as Trust Companies, Wealth Management and Family Offices. This year’s conference is centred around this year’s theme, “Pathways for Practitioners.”
Appleby Isle of Man Counsel Erin Trimble-Cregeen and Senior Associate Melissa Wong, will be taking part in a panel discussion with Janine Cubbon, Head of Private Wealth from Suntera. The panel session ‘Trustees Appointment and Retirement- Best Practice”, will be taking place at 11.45am at the conference.
Erin practices in Appleby’s dispute resolution teams in the Isle of Man and Jersey. Having trained and qualified in the Isle of Man, Erin joined Appleby in October 2015 after gaining several years’ experience at an offshore firm Ogier in Guernsey.
Erin specialises in trust disputes and general trust advisory work including advising trustees and beneficiaries on a wide range of contentious trust and estates issues and regularly presents to trust service providers on the obligations of trustees.
Melissa is a Senior Associate within the Corporate department in the Isle of Man, specialising in Private Client & Trusts. Melissa acts for international financial institutions, corporate service providers and law firms, advising on a full range of complex legal issues which affect both their own businesses and those of their clients.
Melissa deals with all aspects of trust, foundation and estate related matters including trust and corporate transactions, restructuring, provision of advice to trustees, council members, beneficiaries and protectors, assisting executors and beneficiaries with Isle of Man probate and providing legal opinions on the authority and capacity of trustees and foundations to enter into a variety of transactions.
Appleby Isle of Man’s Private Client and Trusts practice was recently ranked as Tier 1 in the Legal 500 UK 2025 edition, with Erin and Melissa both being individually recognised as ‘Leading Associates’ within this field.
