Bio
James is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution department in the Isle of Man. Since qualifying with Appleby in 2018, James has appeared before the Isle of Man High Court (at first instance and appellate levels) on a wide range of litigation matters.
James left Appleby in 2024 to join JMW Solicitors LLP in their commercial litigation department, acting in a broad spectrum of cases on behalf of businesses and individuals, including claims relating to breach of contract, professional negligence and shareholder/director disputes.
Since re-joining Appleby in 2025 James continues to act in a range of commercial and corporate disputes. In addition, James also has wider experience of fields intersecting with commercial litigation, including property disputes, insurance claims and insolvency matters.

- University of Manchester, achieving an Upper Second-Class Honours in Politics and Modern History.
- University of Law (Moorgate), GDL and LPC with commendation.
- Admitted as an Advocate of the Manx Bar on 2018.
