Lydia joined Appleby in 2024 as a Trainee Advocate in the Dispute Resolution Team. She qualified as a Barrister in England and Wales, specialising in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and general negligence. Lydia’s specialist practise encapsulates a range of areas including, but not limited to, road traffic accidents, credit hire, employer liability, public liability, occupier’s liability, inquests, professional negligence and dental negligence. Lydia also assists in other litigated matters such as land, trust and company disputes.
Although Lydia’s focused practise at Appleby sees her act predominantly on behalf of Defendants, she has experience acting for Claimants and Defendants alike. She is therefore able to approach matters with a tactical, comprehensive and considered mindset.
Lydia’s experience to date includes working on complex high-value injury matters, including traumatic birth and serious head injuries. Her experience as a barrister means that she is well accustomed to quantifying claims and providing thorough advice to clients regarding the prospects of successfully bringing or defending a claim. Lydia’s experience in quantifying claims allows her to firmly grasp the facts of a matter and carefully consider the value and necessity of evidence, and to determine the most appropriate next steps in progressing a matter.
