Bio

Sangheetaa Phary is Counsel in the Corporate department of Appleby’s Bermuda office, specialising in corporate and commercial law. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of areas including (re)insurance law, public and private mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, and strategic governmental and regulatory consultancy.

She joined Appleby in January 2025. Prior to joining Appleby, Sangheetaa practised at another Bermuda law firm and was recognised as the first Malaysian to be called to the Bermuda Bar in this century. Her professional background also includes significant tenure at one of the largest international law practices in Southeast Asia and the UK.

Sangheetaa is recognized as a key lawyer by Legal 500  in the Corporate and Commercial category.

Qualifications & Education

Sangheetaa obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with first class honours from University of Leeds, UK in 2010 and her Master of Law (LLM), majoring in corporate law, from University of Cambridge in 2012. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln’s Inn) in 2011 and subsequently, to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of Malaya in 2014. In 2024, Sangheetaa was admitted to the Bermuda Bar as a Barrister & Attorney.
